"The story is based o on certain incidents which take place in our natural setup.

The society had stopped looking towards the beauty of life and in turn relationships and bonds are shattered. This is an effort to irk them to view life in a loving manner once again. I believe this will be a novel experience for theater goers," Janaka stressed at the Muhurath ceremony of his creation.

Sulanga Mata Katha Karai embodies features of a stage drama along with cinematic techniques as well as qualities from the mini screen. This will be the first time that a creation of this nature will go on boards the stage in Sri Lanka.

"People are interested in new experiences and we need to cater to such needs. This technique will nurture the stage drama sector and lure more audience to a field which is fast dying out in the country," he added.

According to the award winning actor the roots for the new creation emerged from a few dramas which he had witnessed abroad. He had noted the crust of the techniques used by globally renowned dramatists and molded it to suite the local stage.

"Sulanga Mata Katha Karai is an experiment which is most likely to set a new pace in local theater. The team had discussed at length on how we plant to carry on the project. We have worked hard to set the base for the creation and our producer Kumudumali Herath had shown great interest.

The drama would not have been able to take off with such enthusiasm and speed without her encouragement," he said.

Cinematic and techniques used while shooting television programs comes into play while capturing the deep emotions of the characters.

Though technology is used on stage it is used in a manner which does not deteriorate the live performance taking place on stage. Rather it enhances the quality of the project and provides an in-depth study of the characters in every angle.

"We cannot isolate ourselves from these new technological aspects in the world. The whole world is on our palm today and it just takes one click of a button to unveil the information you seek. Many of the developed countries have brought these techniques with effect to their stage plays," he explained.

Chandana Liyanage is the music director while Navaratna Gamage is the sound mixer Wasantha Vittachchi is the make up artist and Thushara Vidanagamage is the hair dresser. Chandana Nishantha will control the sound effects, Ranga will take care of the lighting while Vernan Abeysinghe and W. Ravindra will be the stage managers.

The team hopes to stage Sulanga Mata Katha Karai in different parts of the island after their debut performance. They have already had invitations from countries like America, Australia and Canada to stage the product for the Sri Lankan audience.

Thus Jude Sriaml is in charge of the staging facilities of the project in Sri Lanka and Neel Amaraweera will handle the staging of the creation when it will be projected overseas.
